What is the impact of abnormal uterine development on pregnancy? Want a younger uterus and do these 5 things well
The uterus is an important organ for women, and it should also be maintained in daily life. Abnormal uterine development is an abnormal phenomenon that must be recognized for its harmfulness and avoided as much as possible in daily life.
Does abnormal uterine development affect pregnancy
People whose uterus is smaller than normal are medically referred to as "uterine dysplasia", commonly known as "small uterus". Such patients are often accompanied by sparse menstruation, cessation of menstruation, or amenorrhea. Dysplasia of the uterus is mainly caused by insufficient endocrine function, especially ovarian dysfunction that leads to abnormal secretion of estrogen and progesterone, and the development of the uterus requires the combined action of estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, these two hormone secretion disorders can hinder the normal development of the uterus. Ovarian dysfunction, in addition to uterine dysplasia, is a greater disadvantage for pregnancy due to the patient's lack of ovulation and luteal dysfunction leading to infertility.
The Hazards of Abnormal Uterine Development
1. Pregnancy: Women with uterine malformations, especially those with a single horn uterus, are more prone to complications during pregnancy and delivery compared to women with a normal shape of the uterus, whether in assisted reproductive technology or natural pregnancy. If the shape of the uterine cavity is abnormal, many infants will adopt a buttocks position inside the uterus instead of a head down position under normal circumstances. If the baby is in a breech position, the doctor will recommend a cesarean section because currently it is considered the best delivery method for breech babies
2. Abortion: The relationship between uterine malformations and miscarriage is currently unclear. However, regarding the pregnancy outcomes of women with uterine malformations, a study showed that compared to women with normal uterus, these women have a higher proportion of miscarriages, but the proportion of miscarriages varies depending on the type of uterine malformation. For example, women with uterine mediastinum have a higher risk of miscarriage than other types of uterine malformations
3. Fertility: The position of the uterus itself does not necessarily reduce a woman's fertility, even for women with uterine mediastinum, occasional problems may occur. But women with a single horn uterus will have a harder time conceiving because they only have one fallopian tube. However, we know very little about pregnancy in women with unicorn uterus. Generally speaking, uterine malformations do not affect pregnancy, but the presence of abnormal uterus makes it difficult for expectant mothers to maintain pregnancy until 9 months.
