Sperm is a nutrient in the male body, it is an organic substance. The vitality of sperm affects the probability of successful pregnancy. What factors disrupt sperm activity and reduce human fertility? Experts say that protecting sperm requires attention to the following points.
1、 Tobacco and alcohol are great enemies of sperm
Smoking and alcohol abuse are the great enemies of sperm. Some men's bodies are quite sensitive to the toxins in cigarettes, especially the germ cell in the testes. Nicotine in tobacco can reduce sex hormone secretion and sperm killing.
An Australian chemist has stated that once men quit smoking, the levels of sex hormones in their blood will increase. Hungarian medical doctors advocate that smokers have fewer sperm and more abnormal sperm in their semen than non-smokers. For example, if an adult male smokes 30 cigarettes a day, the survival rate of sperm is only 40%, and the rate of sperm deformity increases. Long term heavy smoking is one of the important factors for infertility. Alcoholism will not only reduce the function of gonad and inhibit the formation of sperm, but also make about 70% of sperm dysplasia lose vitality, cause chromosome abnormalities in sperm, and cause fetal malformation and dysplasia.
2、 Zinc deficiency reduces sperm count
Sperm growth requires a supply of nutrients. Some men eat monotonous, partial, picky, and do not like animal foods (such as meat, eggs, fish, milk products, etc.), which can reduce their zinc content for a long time. The trace element zinc is known as the harmonious element in couples. Men suffer from zinc deficiency, decreased libido and function, decreased sperm count by 30-40%, and loss of fertility.
3、 High scrotal temperature is detrimental to sperm
The process of sperm growth requires low temperature, so the temperature inside the scrotum is at least 1-1.5 ℃ lower than body temperature, and the temperature inside the testicles is 0.5-1 ℃ lower, resulting in sperm death. To maintain this physiological state, the scrotum acts as a thermostat. When the temperature is too high, the scrotum extends, expanding the heat dissipation area, wrinkles in cold weather, reducing the heat dissipation area, and the scrotum temperature is lower than the abdominal cavity.
If a man has an interest in taking a shower, the temperature of the scrotum will rise, the number of sperm will decrease, wearing tight clothing such as sterile jeans will make it difficult for the scrotum to dissipate heat, and the local temperature of the testicles will also rise, which is detrimental to the growth of sperm. Modern medicine is using this principle to find ways to increase the temperature of the scrotum and testes to achieve contraceptive purposes, which is an effective family planning measure.
