Incorrect contraception can harm women's postpartum health. Do not wait for menstruation before using contraception
What comes to mind first when it comes to sex? Intoxicated, wonderful, or nervous, eager? In fact, protection is the most important thing to pay attention to.
The number of abortions in China reaches 13 million every year. 76.1% of women with sexual experience have a wrong understanding of the Calendar-based contraceptive methods, and 68.3% of women believe that the contraceptive pill is an "emergency contraceptive pill". In this issue, Soo Keat Khoo, President of the Asia Pacific Contraceptive Council, and Ludwig Hahn, General Coordinator of WCD, are invited to summarize contraceptive misconceptions for you in order to better protect yourself.
Misunderstanding 1: Condoms are the safest to protect. Among the conventional contraceptive methods, the birth control ring is the most effective and suitable for women who have given birth, followed by short-term oral contraceptives, condoms, Calendar-based contraceptive methods and Coitus interruptus. The emergency contraception is a remedy and cannot be used as a conventional contraceptive method. With a stable Sexual partner, short acting oral contraceptives are preferred.
Misunderstanding 2: Everything went smoothly afterwards. Many women think the contraceptive pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. In fact, the difference between these two is significant, and incorrect use can affect women's health. The component of the emergency contraceptives is a large amount of single pregnancy hormone, which will cause great changes to the endocrine after a one-time intake, so it can only be used as an occasional alternate rescue measure, not more than 3-4 times a year, or it can only wait for endocrine disorders.
Myth 3: Contraceptives are hormones and should not be taken too much. Many people talk about the color changes of hormones. In fact, most hormones for weight gain and hair growth are exogenous cortical hormones. The fourth generation of new oral contraceptives contains female pregnancy hormones that are equivalent to endogenous hormones secreted by the female ovaries. They not only do not cause side effects, but also help improve acne, dysmenorrhea, and premenstrual discomfort syndrome.
Myth 4: Long term use of contraceptive pills can affect pregnancy. Oral contraceptives only temporarily rest the ovaries and do not degrade reproductive function. Instead, resting provides more health benefits, such as reducing the risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer. As long as you stop taking the medicine, you can get pregnant in the next Menstrual cycle
