Causes of vulvar itching during pregnancy
1. Genital itching caused by psychological factors: Medical research has shown that after pregnancy, women experience reduced or interrupted sexual intercourse, and fear of pregnancy, insomnia, and other factors often lead to vulvar itching.
2. External stimulation induced itching of the external genitalia: excessive sweating, moisture, hard underwear that causes itching due to immersion, and some expectant mothers who are allergic to chemical fiber underwear and cause itching due to soap cleaning of the external genitalia, etc.
3. Vulval itching caused by vaginitis: Vulval itching is the main symptom of diseases such as fungal vaginitis, trichomonal vaginitis, and vulvar eczema.
4. Gestational diabetes: when suffering from diabetes, due to the stimulation of sugar on the vulva skin, it is easy to have toxic vulva and vaginitis, causing vulva pruritus. When jaundice occurs due to liver and gallbladder or other diseases, the increase in bilirubin in the blood and the stimulation of the skin by bile salts can also cause itching of the external genitalia.
Harm of vulvar itching during pregnancy
1. Neonatal skin often infects the vagina: When pregnant women experience itching in the external genitalia, their reactions vary depending on the type of vaginitis. If it is caused by fungal vaginitis, there may be a risk of intrauterine infection. In addition, after birth, newborns may experience skin, vaginal, and intestinal infections through close contact with postpartum care through birth canal infections.
2. Premature delivery and miscarriage: itching of the external genitalia caused by trichomonas vaginitis, and the occurrence of premature delivery, premature rupture of membranes, and puerperal infections after mid pregnancy. After the birth of a newborn, neonatal vulvitis and vaginitis may occur. The possibility of bacterial vaginitis infection and premature amniotic fluid infection during miscarriage is high.
3. Goose mouth sores: Scratching of the external genitalia caused by Candida infection, resulting in oral Candida infection during delivery through the mother's vagina. Fetal development of foie gras. Some babies may develop candidal dermatitis around the anus.
4. Inducing various gynecological diseases: Patients with vulvar itching during pregnancy are mainly caused by bacterial and viral infections. If not treated in a timely manner, the possibility of other complications in the body is high as bacteria rise, leading to other gynecological diseases and posing certain risks to fetal health.
