Why is constipation during menstruation? How to alleviate the embarrassment of menstrual constipation
The hormone secretion levels in a woman's body are periodic, but changes in hormone levels can bring many symptoms to the woman's body. Constipation in women before and after menstruation is mainly closely related to the secretion of female body hormones. There are generally two types of hormones in women's bodies. One is follicular hormone, which is mainly secreted from the end of menstruation to before ovulation, and the other is luteal hormone, which is mainly secreted from ovulation to before menstruation. Female menstrual constipation is mainly caused by luteinizing hormone. Because luteinizing hormone is used to prepare women for pregnancy, it participates in the entire pregnancy process, adjusts the endometrium of women, and facilitates pregnancy preparation. Due to the large secretion of progesterone in the corpus luteum a few days before menstruation, the body needs a large amount of water for normal hormonal activities, which will absorb water from the intestines, leading to a decrease in intestinal moisture, insufficient lubrication, dry stools, and constipation.
After the end of menstruation, the body mainly secretes egg cell hormones, reducing water demand, and increasing progesterone levels can stimulate intestinal movement, thus reducing symptoms of constipation. So, what should women do if they are constipated during menstruation?
1. Moderate drinking water
Physiological day constipation is often caused by a decrease in intestinal moisture, dry and hard stools. Drinking more hot water on physiological days not only helps alleviate symptoms of physiological pain, but also helps to expel physiological blood. 2. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits
Fresh vegetables and fruits are rich in vitamins and fiber, among which soluble fiber can stimulate the intestines, help with intestinal peristalsis, increase intestinal motility, and aid in defecation.
3. Drinking traditional Chinese medicine with laxative effects as a substitute for drinking tea
For example, if constipation is severe on physiological days, traditional Chinese medicine such as cassia seed, hawthorn, senna leaf, etc. can also be consumed to help relieve constipation. After soaking in water, it can moisten the intestines, soften hard stools, and be excreted from the body.
