How should one evaluate one night stand morally? When we study social phenomena, the first thing is to look at what people are doing, the second thing is to look at why people are doing this, why this phenomenon occurs, and less discuss whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. So I think there are two roles in this: researcher and pastor. Pastors are certain to make moral judgments, and researchers are generally unwilling to make such judgments in vain. Because morality varies from place to place, there is no universally applicable morality to evaluate people's behavior. For example, in cannibal tribes, cannibalism is very immoral to outsiders, but in cannibals it is moral. Everyone should have a new mindset, not to say that there is a fixed moral standard everywhere and at all times.
When it comes to one night stands, there is a one to many problem. Instead of choosing a one to one relationship, these people choose a one to many relationship, and they have many partners. China's traditional morality has always been to live from one person to the end, marry the chicken and live together for a long time. But if you think about it from another perspective, if a person has changed many sexual partners in his life, he may not necessarily be bad. It cannot be absolutely said that all people who have had one night stands are morally degraded. Sex has three purposes, the first being for procreation. In history, there were many cultures and religions that believed that the only legitimate purpose of sex was procreation. There is a Christian saint who said that sex is a sin, even if it is between husband and wife in order to carry on the lineage, it is also a sin. A Christian leader once said, "I really hope God could have figured out another way for people to inherit their lineage, so that people can avoid the sin of sexual behavior.".
The second purpose is to establish a relationship, such as a love relationship, marriage relationship, etc.
The third is for pure physical pleasure. One night stands clearly belong to the third category, which is purely for physical pleasure. Of course, one night stands do not rule out the possibility of developing into the first and second purposes. For example, I have heard others say that some people develop feelings after one night stands and eventually establish a marriage, which is also the case. However, it is indeed an accident in one night stands, and it is not the purpose of doing it from the beginning.
