Understanding who is susceptible to syphilis first requires the transmission route of syphilis. The only source of infection for the first syphilis is syphilitic patients carrying the virus, and the infection routes are as follows:
Sexual contact infection is the main route of infection, with over 95% of syphilis patients infected through this route. If pregnant women suffer from syphilis, the syphilis virus can infect the fetus in the abdomen through the placenta or umbilical vein, and the fetus can be infected in the uterus of the pregnant woman
The above are the reasons for syphilis infection. How should we prevent syphilis infection?
1. Sexual transmission is the main mode of transmission. If you have a history of unsafe sexual contact, you should immediately go to the hospital for syphilis serum testing and early detection and treatment.
2. Indirect contact infection with syphilis is very rare, but in some public places, such as avoiding going to public bathrooms, using sitting toilets in public restrooms, and mixing with towels or potted plants from others.
3. Pay attention to tracking the patient's sexual partner and having sexual contact with syphilis patients (both spouses and partners should go to the hospital for examination or necessary treatment, and never have sex until they are cured).
4. The prevention of congenital syphilis should strengthen the serological screening of syphilis among women of childbearing age and pregnant women. Pregnant women who may carry syphilis should receive timely preventive treatment to prevent syphilis from infecting the unborn fetus. Unmarried men and women with syphilis should not marry until they recover.
5. For patients receiving standardized treatment, regular follow-up and observation of serum should be conducted.
6. For those who need blood transfusion, the blood transfusion agency needs to present a blood transfusion inspection certificate to prevent unnecessary trouble.
How should prevention or infection be treated? Syphilis patients are divided into primary (initial) syphilis, secondary syphilis, and tertiary syphilis based on the degree and duration of infection, and each stage requires different treatment methods. If diagnosed with syphilis infection, please go to the hospital immediately for treatment. Otherwise, syphilis infection in the later stage may endanger one's own life.
