A reader sent a letter: I found that my semen is light yellow and abnormal. What color is normal?
In fact, many people have such questions, and many patients have raised such questions in clinical practice. First, let's understand the composition of semen, which is composed of sperm and seminal plasma. Sperm volume only accounts for a small part, and more than 90% is seminal plasma. The seminal plasma is secreted by accessory gonads such as prostate, seminal vesicle, bulbous urethral gland, paraurethral gland, etc. The main components are water, fat, protein particles, pigment particles, lecithin bodies, enzymes, fructose, etc. Secondly, the color of semen is determined by the composition of semen. The semen of ordinary people is gray or slightly earthy yellow. It is normal for the semen to turn yellow due to long abstinence time, changes in physical and chemical properties. So when you see that the color of semen is a little yellow, you should rule out whether the abstinence time is too long. If there are still problems, you should make further examination to determine the cause and timely treatment.
The following is an introduction to abnormal semen. If the following semen color occurs, please see a doctor immediately.
1. The semen is milky white or yellowish green
If you look under the microscope, you can see many pus balls, inflammation in the genital tract, and the possibility of suppurative infection of the prostate and seminal vesicle is very high.
2. The semen is red
It indicates that the semen contains red blood cells, which are usually called blood sperm. At this time, patients are often worried that they have some very serious terminal disease. In fact, it is only caused by some inflammation. Blood essence is mostly caused by seminal vesiculitis or prostatitis. The blood essence caused by this kind of inflammation is mostly light red. Vascular malformation causes small blood vessel rupture, blood sperm is bright red, and blood clots can be seen. More serious seminal vesicles and prostate tumors may also have blood sperm, but usually cancer blood sperm is characterized by persistence and aggravation, which is different from blood sperm caused by inflammation. In addition, tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, systemic diseases of the blood system and other diseases can occasionally cause hemospermia, which should be treated with corresponding diseases. Clinical observation shows that when the genital tract is bleeding, the semen is red or light red, a large number of red cells can be seen under the microscope, and the naked eye is brownish red or sauce oil, and the semen contains a large number of red cells. These pathological hemosperms should be diagnosed and treated immediately.
Abnormal semen color is not terrible. Once the cause is found and treated, the color will return to normal.
