What is the principle of subcutaneous implant contraception? What are the advantages of subcutaneous implant contraception
Contraceptive methods are becoming increasingly diverse, with various medications available, some taken and some not taken. However, choosing the appropriate contraceptive method is also important. I don't know if you know about subcutaneous contraception. Let's understand now.
1、 Subcutaneous Implantation Contraceptive Method
1. Subcutaneous Implantation Contraceptive Method?
Subcutaneous implantation contraception is a new type of contraceptive method that is currently popular worldwide.
This contraceptive method involves placing a certain dose of pregnancy hormone into a silicon capsule tube, embedding the tube subcutaneously, and slowly releasing a small amount of pregnancy hormone to exert contraceptive effects. In 1984, China introduced this type of contraceptive pill, which was first used in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Shenyang. Currently, 15 provinces and cities across the country have established clinical trial centers for subcutaneous implants to perform this surgery. According to relevant data statistics, the pregnancy rate within 2 years is only 0.1%, and the pregnancy rate within 3 years is 0.24%.
The implant used in the subcutaneous implant contraceptive method consists of six silicon capsule tubes the size of a matchstick, each containing 34 milligrams of levo-18A implant (also known as Norplam). After the capsule tube is embedded in the subcutaneous tissue, the contraceptive pill is slowly released immediately and can be used for contraception after 24 hours. The effective contraceptive time is 5 years.
Subcutaneous implantation of contraceptives is achieved by altering the viscosity of cervical mucus and preventing sperm from entering the uterine cavity; Inhibition of endometrial growth is not conducive to the implantation of zygote; Inhibiting ovarian ovulation and other multifaceted effects to achieve contraceptive purposes.
2. Who is suitable for use
Women under the age of 40 who need long-term contraception can use this method of contraception as long as they are physically healthy. It is especially suitable for women who are prone to failure when using an intrauterine device, women who cannot take the contraceptive pill on time, and women who have concerns about undergoing sterilization surgery.
3. Severe anemia, hypertension, frequent headache, hyperthyroidism, breast cancer, diabetes, uterine fibroids, ovarian tumors, severe skin diseases, hepatitis, nephritis and other diseases, people with a history of ectopic pregnancy, lactating women, women weighing more than 70 kg or taking anti epileptic drugs, anti tuberculosis drugs are not suitable for this contraceptive method.
4. How to use
Subcutaneous contraceptive surgery is usually performed within 7 days of menstruation or at the same time as induced abortion surgery. The surgical operation is simple. A small incision is made on the inner side of the contraceptive's upper arm, and a special trocar is used to push six silicon capsule tubes into the subcutaneous area (arranged in a fan-shaped manner) from the incision. The surgery is completed without the need for suturing, and the entire surgical operation can be completed in a few minutes.
