When a man is sexually stimulated, the penis will naturally erect and engage in sexual intercourse. Most people only know that penile erection is a normal physiological phenomenon caused by congestion and sexual hormones. So, who knows the detailed process of its true erection? I'm afraid everyone doesn't understand. Therefore, let science take us to explore the magical process of penile erection!
The process of blood circulation in the penis
The penile blood vessels themselves and the supply of blood flow play an extremely important role in the mechanism of penile erection, as the essence of penile erection is a vascular congestion reaction. Problems with these blood systems can of course lead to poor penile erection. The branches of the internal penile artery include: the dorsal penile artery is located outside the tunica albuginea on the back of the penis, the Corpus cavernosum penis artery that runs along the Corpus cavernosum penis, and the two bulbar urethrae on the ventral side of the urethra that runs along the urethral Cavernous tissue.
The terminal branches of these arteries, the spiral arteries, terminate in small capillaries, which open directly into the cavernous cavity. There are two ways of venous return: the superficial dorsal vein discharges blood from the entire urethral Cavernous tissue (including glans and urethral bulb), and the deep dorsal vein discharges blood from the Corpus cavernosum penis.
Sponge body cavity leads to penile erection
The three cavernous cavities perform the function of erectile tissue of the penis. The glans and the urethral Cavernous tissue provide volume, while a pair of Corpus cavernosum penis provide hardness. The tissue is called trabecular fibers and smooth muscle bands, also known as blood sinuses, covering the endothelium.
The sinus space is located in the center of the Cavernous tissue. When the penis is highly congested, its diameter can reach 1~9mm, and the relaxation time gap is not obvious. Each blood sinus has a direct connection between the deep artery and the output vein, and there is a direct communicating branch between the deep artery and the output vein, known as the arteriovenous shunt system. Valvular smooth muscle wrinkles exist on the walls of deep arteries, output veins and arteriovenous short circuits, and are regulated by erectile Neuromodulation.
When the nerve impulse acts on wrinkles, the deep arteries of the sinus are fully opened, and the wall of the output vein and the communicating branches of the artery and vein are partially closed, so the blood volume of the sinus increases, leading to the filling and erection of the Cavernous tissue. Then, the outflow of blood from Deep vein decreased and selectively accumulated in the Cavernous sinus. The smooth muscles in sponge tissue relax, and the blood sinuses expand due to being filled with blood. The volume of the penis significantly increases, but the white membrane does not expand indefinitely, ultimately achieving the required hardness of the erect penis.
