What is it about pubic hair turning white before reaching old age? What are the factors that cause white pubic hair in elderly people
As we age, human hair gradually falls off and the color gradually becomes lighter and whiter, which is a normal physiological phenomenon. However, many people experience white pubic hair before reaching old age, which is not uncommon in daily life and may be caused by physiological factors or disease factors.
What's wrong with pubic hair turning white before reaching old age?
1. Changes in pigments
Most of the pubic hair of Asians is black, which contains a large amount of melanin. If influenced by certain factors, resulting in insufficient or reduced pigment synthesis in the body, it may lead to discoloration and whitening of human hair. The whitening of pubic hair induced by hypopigmentation is mostly not unique, and patients may also experience color loss in other positions of hair, such as hair, armpit hair, and sweat. There are many reasons that can induce hypopigmentation, such as endocrine disorders, malnutrition, ovarian lesions, excessive mental stress, albinism, and so on.
2. Hormonal abnormalities in the body
The density, thickness, and color of human hair are greatly influenced by hormones. As is well known, people with high levels of male hormone secretion usually have more abundant body hair, but some patients may experience symptoms of sparse hair due to the low sensitivity of hair follicles to hormones. Even though many women have mature sexual characteristics, they still only have sparse pubic hair or no pubic hair at all. If the body's sensitivity to hormones is insufficient, especially in the pubic hair follicles, there is a possibility of causing pubic hair to turn white.
3. Skin lesions
There are many factors that can affect the skin condition, such as yellowing in patients with poor liver function and blackening in patients with poor kidney function. The typical disease that triggers skin whitening is vitiligo. When vitiligo reaches a more severe stage, it may not only cause the skin to turn white, but even the hair growing on the skin may become white. Vitiligo, also known as vulvar vitiligo or vulvar white lesions, occurs in the genital area. Patients with vitiligo have damaged melanocytes in the vulva, resulting in white pubic hair. This condition can occur at any age group.
4. Genetic factors lead to
According to the latest research results, there is also a certain relationship between human hair and genetic factors. Some patients have genetic factors that determine their pubic hair to be sparse and lighter in color. In the stage of rapid development of secondary sexual characteristics during adolescence, it is not yet obvious, but in the later growth process, due to a decrease in hormone secretion levels, genetic characteristics are highlighted, leading to symptoms of sparse and white hair.
