Male students should know that sometimes they joke that they like to use the word impotence. Erectile dysfunction is a type of erectile dysfunction that mainly refers to sexual desire, erection, or weak erection. So, what are the reasons for impotence? Let's take a look at how experts have introduced it.
Causes of impotence
1、 Organic diseases
(1) Vascular causes: including any disease that may lead to the decrease of blood flow in the cavernous artery of the penis, such as atherosclerosis, arterial injury, arterial stenosis, penile artery shunt and cardiac dysfunction, or the penile white membrane obstructs the venous return and closure mechanism, and the reduction of smooth muscle in the penile cavernous sinus.
(2) Nervous causes: central and peripheral nervous system disease or injuries can lead to impotence.
(3) Surgery and trauma: large vessel surgery, radical prostatectomy, radical resection of abdominal, perineal, rectal cancer, pelvic fracture, lumbar compressibility fracture or straddle injury can cause blood vessel and nerve injuries related to penile erection, leading to impotence.
(4) Endocrine diseases: impotence is caused by endocrine diseases, mainly seen in diabetes, hypothalamus pituitary abnormalities and primary gonadal insufficiency. According to foreign reports, 23%~60% of male patients with diabetes have different degrees of secondary impotence. The mechanism of its occurrence is mainly related to autonomic neuropathy, penile vascular stenosis, endocrine abnormalities, and psychological factors.
2、 Diseases of the penis itself
Such as penile induration, penile curvature deformity, severe phimosis, and balanoposthitis.
Genitourinary malformation
Congenital curvature of the penis, double penis, small penis, displacement of the penis and scrotum, bladder inversion, urethral cleft, congenital testicular loss or underdevelopment, formation of sponge fiber scars on the penis, varicocele, etc.
4、 Urogenital diseases
Chronic inflammation of the urinary and reproductive organs and secondary erectile dysfunction are more common, such as orchitis, epididymitis, urethritis, cystitis, prostatitis, etc. Among them, chronic prostatitis and erectile dysfunction are the most common. Prostate hyperplasia, prostatectomy, urethral rupture, penis, testicular injury, and other urogenital system surgeries, as well as some injuries, can cause impotence. Due to testicular atrophy and decreased testosterone, patients with chronic renal failure often experience erectile dysfunction.
5、 Other factors
Radiation, heavy metal poisoning, etc. Chronic diseases and long-term use of certain medications can also lead to impotence.
