What are the symptoms of non gonococcal urethritis? What discomfort does the body experience when suffering from non gonococcal urethritis
What are the symptoms of non gonococcal urethritis? This disease refers to a infectious diseases of the genitourinary system in which gonorrhoea is not found in the secretion coating and culture. Female patients not only have urethritis, but also cervical inflammation, hence they are also known as non-specific reproductive tract infections (NSGI). It is mainly caused by chlamydia oculi or ureaplasma urealyticum infection, and a few can also be caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, candida albicans, herpes simplex virus, etc. It is one of the common sexually transmitted diseases.
Clinical symptoms
1. The incubation period for non gonococcal urethritis is 10-20 days.
2. The onset of gonorrhea is more acute, the symptoms are delayed, and the time is mild, but it is lighter than gonorrhea. About 50% of patients have symptoms such as painful urination and itching of the urethra, which are easily missed at initial diagnosis. Non gonococcal urethritis in males is characterized by discomfort, itching, burning sensation, pricking pain, redness and swelling of the urethra, and urethral secretions are mostly serous, thin, and mouth like in the morning. Non gonococcal urethritis in females is characterized by cervicitis and erosion, with increased secretions, Cervical secretions are mostly lobulated white blood cells (more than 10 under high magnification)
3. Urethral secretions are rare and thin, with mucous or mucosal purulent properties. Prolonged non urination (waking up in the morning) can cause a small amount of thin secretions to overflow from the outer urethral opening. Sometimes, the scab film from waking up in the morning seals the urethral opening or contaminates the underwear. During the examination, compress the anterior urethra from the back to the front
4. Often infected simultaneously with gonorrhea, the former first presents symptoms of gonorrhea. After receiving anti gonorrhea treatment, the gonococcal bacteria are killed by penicillin, but Chlamydia and Mycoplasma still exist. After 1-3 weeks of infection, the disease develops, and it is easy to mistakenly believe that gonorrhea has not been cured or relapses in clinical practice.
5. Improper handling or untimely treatment can cause complications (1%), such as acute orchitis, prostatitis, colitis, pharyngitis, female cervicitis, cervical erosion, vestibular gland inflammation, vaginitis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, infertility, etc.
6. Newborns who pass through the infected birth canal can develop conjunctivitis from 3 to 3 days postpartum, with mucopurulent secretions in the eyes, without secretions, but mostly without invading the cornea. Pneumonia can occur 2-3 weeks postpartum, with worsening symptoms and shortness of breath as its characteristic, but without fever. Half of the children have conjunctivitis.
7. A very small number of patients may be accompanied by urethritis, arthritis, keratitis, membranitis, and rash.
