Breasts are an important part of the female body, not only responsible for breastfeeding, but also have cosmetic effects. Abnormal conditions can also occur in the breasts, with nipple retraction being one of them.
Causes of nipple retraction
1. Congenital causes:
(1) Smooth muscle dysplasia of nipples and areolas: The nipples have openings for milk ducts, smooth muscle fibers around the ducts, and the invaginated nipples are pulled inward by muscle fiber bundles surrounding the ducts and inserted into the dermis of the nipples. The texture of these muscle bundles is significantly different from that of the milk ducts.
(2) The milk ducts themselves are underdeveloped: underdeveloped milk ducts cannot be ducted.
(3) Genetic causes of nipple depression are related to genetics. Clinical observation shows that among mothers and their mother's generation, those whose grandmother has a history of nipple depression are more likely to have nipple depression in the next generation than the general population.
2. Acquired reasons:
(1) Underwear is too tight and tight. Especially for women, tight underwear during breast development can easily lead to nipple depression.
(2) Improper use of bra. The bra is too small, too tight, and premature use can lead to nipple depression.
3. Secondary inverted nipple:
(1) Disease caused by contraction of the invaded ducts, ligaments, and fascia.
(2) Breast Malignant Tumor: Women with normal breasts should undergo mammography and other examinations to determine the presence of breast malignant tumors if there is no obvious cause of nipple retraction.
(3) Breast surgery: When applying dermal pedicle in breast plastic surgery, tension and scar contraction can also cause nipple retraction.
Prevent nipple retraction
1. Pulling nipples: If there is nipple retraction in direct relatives such as mothers and aunts, it must be a key prevention object. After birth, mothers can gently lift the baby girl's nipples outward 1-2 times a day for girls with genetic predispositions. The movements should be gentle and gentle, preferably experienced operators, which can effectively prevent nipple retraction.
2. Choose cotton underwear: The clothes you wear must be made of cotton and should be washed regularly to bask in the sun. If there are signs of red cracks in the nipples, the underwear should be steamed and disinfected. Girls should not wear bras too early.
3. Wearing bras should be appropriate: the underwear and bras should not be too tight, and for girls with larger breasts, it is even more important to pay attention to the looseness of the breasts. Timely correct girls with prone habits to prevent nipples from being squeezed and causing nipple retraction.
