What are the nursing misconceptions of external genital itching? How to effectively treat external genital itching
Pruritus of the vulva can also occur from time to time in women, and its causes are multifaceted, and its impact on women is also significant. After experiencing itching of the vulva, we must treat it symptomatically.
Vulvar itching infection
Pruritus of the external genitalia is often just a symptom. What disease is causing it? If it is caused by diseases such as vaginitis, it may be infected through sexual methods. Women may not be 100% infected with pathogenic bacteria, and male infections may not necessarily show symptoms, especially those with good resistance may not necessarily be infected. However, if a male is infected and a female recovers, there is a high likelihood of a resurgence of vulvar itching symptoms in a re infected female.
In general, vulvar itching is most commonly caused by trichomonas infection and fungal infection. Both types of inflammation are often transmitted through sexual behavior, and it can also be transmitted through public baths, bathtubs, swimming pools, toilets, clothing, etc. Therefore, women with external genital itching symptoms should generally avoid sexual intercourse, and sexual activity should be prohibited during treatment to completely cure inflammation.
Misunderstanding of pruritus in the external genitalia
1. Some people mistakenly believe that the external genitalia is a dirty place and use soap, hot water, salt water, cleaning solution, or disinfectant to scald every night. They also say that after scalding, it is very comfortable. In fact, the external genitalia is not dirtier than the mouth and nose. Excessive cleaning, disinfection, and "comfort seeking" can actually cause imbalance in the bacterial community of the external genitalia, local inflammation, more severe itching, and even cause perianal inflammation, cystitis, retrograde pyelonephritis, and so on.
2. For external genital itching, some doctors not only do not recommend patients to stop scalding, but also recommend applying medication containing pine hormones after scalding. The results are temporarily effective, but once the itching stops, the more stubborn the treatment becomes, and it will not heal for many years.
Treatment of external genital itching
1. For obvious and stubborn cases, choose effective antibiotics according to medical advice.
2. For those with excessive secretions, disinfected cotton pads can be used to absorb the secretions, and they should be replaced frequently to maintain local cleanliness.
3. During the acute phase, rest in bed to reduce local irritation, and use a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution to take sitz baths and local hot baths every 4 hours, with soap scrubbing prohibited.
4. Locally use a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution sitz bath 2-3 times a day. You can use soft soap to gently wash the external genitalia, and avoid using highly irritating soap or scrubbing vigorously. Gently apply back and forth to dry the external genitalia and sprinkle with zinc oxide powder. After rupture, apply antibiotic ointment or clean the external genitalia with 10% clean water.
