There are many factors that cause male infertility, and understanding what causes it plays a very important role in the treatment of the disease. It is important to understand the types of male infertility, and only by understanding these can the disease be completely eradicated. So what are the types of male infertility? Let me introduce to you:
Hypothalamic lesions:
1. Kallman syndrome with selective hypogonadism of gonadotropins.
2. Selective LH deficiency and fertility type epididymis syndrome.
3. Selective FSH deficiency.
4. Congenital hypogonadotropin syndrome.
Pituitary Lesions:
1. Pituitary dysfunction
The function of the pituitary gland can be affected after undergoing surgery, ischemia, tumors, infections, radiation damage or invasive lesions, as well as granulomatous lesions. Before puberty, in addition to reproductive disorders, there is also a significant developmental delay accompanied by functional defects in the adrenal and thyroid glands. It occurs during sexual maturity and is usually caused by pituitary tumor. In addition to low blood gonadotropin, tumor compression symptoms include headache, abnormal vision, etc. Andrology has decreased sexual desire, erectile dysfunction and infertility, and testicles are small and soft. Laboratory tests showed low levels of blood testosterone and low levels of gonadotropins.
2. Hyperprolactinemia
Excessive serum prolactin can cause reproductive and sexual dysfunction. Pituitary tumors that secrete prolactin, whether microadenomas or large adenomas, can lead to loss of libido, ED, galactorrhea, male breast hyperplasia, and spermatogenic disorders. Women often have microadenomas when suffering from this disease, while men have multiple large adenomas larger than 10mm. Manifestations include abnormal visual field and headache. Based on laboratory examinations of the anterior pituitary, thyroid, and adrenal functions, CT and MRI of the head can make a diagnosis.
3. Hemoglobinosis
80% of these patients have testicular dysfunction. The reason may be due to the deposition of iron in the liver, testicles, or pituitary gland.
There are four main reasons for male infertility:
1. Spermatogenic disorders. The testicles are the "factory" that produces sperm, and if this "factory" malfunctions, the quantity and quality of sperm will be affected. For example, congenital testicular underdevelopment, cryptorchidism, testicular tuberculosis, orchitis, testicular atrophy caused by parotitis, testicular tumors, varicocele, deficiency of zinc, calcium, phosphorus, and the influence of drugs or toxins can all hinder testicular sperm production.
2. Obstruction of sperm transfusion. Inflammation and obstruction of any part from the epididymis, vas deferens, and ejaculatory duct to the urethra can affect the passage of sperm.
3. Ejaculation failure. Such as external genital malformation and sexual dysfunction, hypospadias, premature ejaculation, impotence, non ejaculation and retrograde ejaculation can cause infertility.
4. Immune factors. That is, the self production of anti sperm antibodies leads to infertility.
The above are some specific types of male infertility and the reasons that lead to male infertility that we have summarized. We hope that patients can take their diseases seriously, identify the causes, and actively manage them. The most important thing is to cultivate a good lifestyle habit in daily life in order to stay away from disease troubles.
