Leucorrhea is a female vaginal discharge, and it is important to pay attention to the changes in one's own vaginal discharge. When vaginal discharge increases, it should be taken seriously and judged in a timely manner.
Leukorrhea
During normal menstruation, estrogen and vaginal lactobacilli in the body jointly maintain a normal acidic environment in the vagina and inhibit the growth of other pathogens, known as vaginal self purification. Therefore, normal vaginal discharge is beneficial for women's health, maintaining a normal ecological balance of the vagina, keeping the vagina moist, and facilitating sexual activity for women of childbearing age.
Symptoms of increased vaginal discharge
1. Purulent leucorrhea: yellow or yellow green, mucus or foam like, smelly, mostly vaginitis, of which trichomonal vaginitis is the most common, with more vulva itching. It can be seen in cases such as chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, pleural effusion, or foreign bodies in the vagina.
2. Cheese shaped vaginal discharge or tofu residue shaped vaginal discharge: The typical phenomenon of fungal vaginitis is often accompanied by severe external genital itching.
3. Bloody vaginal discharge, mixed with blood in vaginal discharge: It is necessary to be vigilant about the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal fibroids, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, and senile vaginitis can also cause bloody vaginal discharge, and a small amount of bloody vaginal discharge caused by intrauterine devices is also common.
4. Yellow watery leukorrhea: After continuous vaginal bleeding, a large amount of purulent and foul smelling leukorrhea flows out of the vagina. The first consideration should be advanced cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, or submucosal fibroid infection. Patients with paroxysmal discharge should pay attention to the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.
5. Urinary dysfunction with increased vaginal discharge: In typical gonococcal infections, the amount of vaginal discharge and urethral discharge increases in the same amount, resulting in an increase in yellow purulent discharge. Cervicitis caused by Chlamydia has a low viscosity of the vaginal discharge and an increase in white serous cervical secretions.
The normal physiological phenomenon of increased vaginal discharge
1. Before ovulation. Leucorrhea is most susceptible to the influence of estrogen levels in women's bodies. Before ovulation, due to the increase in estrogen levels, cervical glandular epithelial cells proliferate, cervical mucus secretion increases, sodium chloride content in mucus increases, water absorption increases, vaginal discharge increases, quality is sparse, color is clear, and appearance is normal like protein.
2. During pregnancy. When women are pregnant, they secrete thick mucus due to the influence of hormone levels. As the uterus expands, the pelvis and vagina are compressed, nearby blood vessels expand and congest, and the exudate from the vaginal mucosa increases, but no treatment is needed.
