People and animals only grow through sleep, which helps the spleen and stomach digest food. Therefore, sleep is the first major tonic for maintaining health. If a person does not sleep at night, it is difficult to recover from the loss of a hundred days."
Hua Tuo, as we all know, was a very famous medical expert in ancient times, and his regimen began with sleeping. Remember the following four sleeping precepts, it's difficult to grow old!
Article 1: Be sure to sleep before midnight
In the ancient concept of health preservation, sleep was the first major event in life. If you do not sleep before midnight every day (equivalent to 11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. the next day), whether male or female, it can lead to liver injury, kidney injury over time, and gradually lead to a loss of both qi and blood in the body. When you look in the mirror every day, you will feel a gray and dusty face.
Therefore, it's okay to get up early, but it's definitely not okay to go to bed late. Many people who are in low spirits often have the habit of going to bed late, which can easily damage the liver, essence, and gall bladder. Such people often have trouble using their eyes, are more depressed, and have fewer moments of happiness (their lungs are also affected, which is why they cannot be effectively promoted for a long time).
Some people believe that if they sleep late at night, they can make up for it during the day. In fact, they can't make up for it at all, either they can't sleep or they can't sleep enough. Even if they feel that they have made up for it, in fact, most of the body's Qi and blood have been damaged.
Article 2: Don't think about everything when sleeping
"Think of this body as if it were nothing, or as if it were sugar in water. First melt the big toe, then the other toes, then gradually melt the feet, calves, and thighs, and finally disappear, naturally falling asleep.".
This is the ideal state of mind when falling asleep. Many times, insomnia results from lingering thoughts while falling asleep.
At this point, do not toss and turn in bed to avoid wasting energy and making it harder to fall asleep. The best way is to sit up for a while and then sleep.
In fact, for modern people, if they want to fall asleep before 11 pm, it is also crucial to go to bed early to brew emotions, in order to give the mind a period of slow calm. "Sleeping in the heart first, then sleeping in the body", that's the truth.
03 Article 3: It is advisable to take a nap or sit quietly at noon to nourish the mind
At noon (equivalent to 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 noon), if conditions are limited and you cannot sleep at this time, you can sit quietly for a quarter of an hour and close your eyes to recuperate. In fact, as long as you close your eyes and truly fall asleep for 10 minutes at midday, it's equivalent to sleeping for two hours, but it's important to set the right time for midday. Article 4: Get up early when sleeping
