Researchers have also found that in some cases, drinking alcohol after eating can even lower the alcohol content in the blood of the drinker than the legal alcohol concentration standards for drivers. The researchers explained that the reason why alcohol content in the blood decreases after eating is due to the effects of metabolic processes. Under normal circumstances, after drinking alcohol, there will be corresponding substances in the body that break down alcohol. However, some alcohol will still be directly absorbed by the blood. After eating, the protein, fat, and dense carbohydrates in the stomach will slow down the speed at which the blood absorbs alcohol. However, there are also things that can accelerate the absorption of alcohol by the blood, such as soda and relatively high temperatures. Warm alcohol can also accelerate the absorption of alcohol by the blood.
