Ovarian cysts are often asymptomatic in early stages, but once diagnosed as malignant tumors, they quickly spread. So, what are the types of ovarian cysts? Generally, it can be roughly divided into seven types.
Seven types of ovarian cysts
1. Chocolate cyst: Endometriosis grows in the ovaries, forming a large amount of sticky brown color and chocolate like liquid.
2. Functional cysts: In women of reproductive age who experience ovulation cycles, abnormal amounts of fluid accumulate in the filter or corpus luteum, sometimes becoming larger, but usually disappear within 3 months regardless of medication.
3. Malformed tumor: This is a special cyst that may have problems with cell differentiation during embryonic stage, with accumulation of hair, teeth, and lipids in the ovaries. So it's best to have it removed early.
4. Hemorrhagic cysts: Filter cysts and corpus luteum cysts grow too fast, and ovarian tissue is involved in bleeding. If blood accumulates in the ovaries without an outlet, hemorrhagic cysts can occur. Generally, it disappears on its own, but it takes a long time. You can take medication to alleviate symptoms. In rare cases, patients may need to be removed when they experience severe symptoms.
5. Ovarian cancer: Generally speaking, middle-aged and elderly women are prone to developing epithelial cell carcinoma, which has a high probability of recurrence and poor prognosis.
6. Serous epithelial cyst and mucinous epithelial cyst: After ovulation, serous cells and mucinous cells with secretory function are buried in the ovary, continuously secreting fluid to form a cyst. Surgical removal is required.
7. Endometrioid tumor: The surface of the tumor is smooth, mostly solitary, and its inner wall is composed of endometrial high columnar epithelium.
The hazards of ovarian cysts
1. Premature facial aging in women
Ovarian cysts can cause endocrine disorders, premature aging, malignancy, and even ovarian cancer.
2. Causing edema and affecting daily life
In addition to poor appetite, weight loss, and abdominal distension, patients with ovarian cysts may also cause vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and even swelling of the abdomen and limbs in the later stage
3. Infertility, affecting fertility
The enlargement or degeneration of ovarian cysts may cause sperm, eggs, or fertilized eggs to malfunction, affect fertility, and lead to infertility.
4. Causing miscarriage and dystocia
Ovarian cysts may cause miscarriage in early pregnancy, torsion of the ovarian cyst stem in mid pregnancy, and abnormal fetal position in late pregnancy when the cyst is large. Obstruction of the birth canal during delivery can lead to difficult labor.
