Is there a significant relationship between delivery method and sexual activity? Detailed analysis of the relationship between delivery method and sexual activity
The general requirement for a cesarean section stems from four ideas: firstly, it is believed that a cesarean section causes less pain to the mother compared to vaginal natural delivery; Secondly, it is believed that children born by caesarean section will become smarter in the future due to their head not being compressed; Thirdly, there are subconscious and embarrassing factors that may lead to vaginal wall relaxation during vaginal delivery, which may affect future sexual activity; Some people believe that after a cesarean section, the body shape of the postpartum woman is easier to recover, and so on.
There is another saying in daily life that makes some women believe that the pain caused by natural childbirth and vaginal relaxation can cause disharmony in sexual life between couples. Therefore, choosing to have a child through a cesarean section, with the incision in the abdomen, has no impact on the vagina. Therefore, during postpartum sex, the husband will receive stronger sexual stimulation.
Recently, a study published in the journal Fertility showed that both cesarean section and natural childbirth have little impact on sexual activity. Researchers point out that in the UK, the proportion of cesarean sections has been increasing in recent years, with approximately 23% of women undergoing cesarean section surgery from 2003 to 2004. Around the world, one out of every 10 pregnant women chooses a cesarean section, and a considerable number of them choose it out of the consideration of maintaining their sexual abilities. However, the World Health Organization believes that only about 10-15% of mothers do need to undergo a cesarean section.
Researchers from Brunel University in the UK have found that women who undergo a cesarean section three months postpartum have slightly fewer sexual health problems and less pain during sexual intercourse compared to women who give birth normally. However, after 6 months of childbirth, the difference in sexual life between women who undergo caesarean section and those who undergo natural childbirth significantly decreases.
Some people believe that vaginal delivery can affect the tightness of the vagina, affect the quality of sexual life in the future, and affect the acquisition of sexual pleasure. This concern is completely unnecessary. The vagina is a highly dilated cylindrical organ that can allow the fetus to pass smoothly without affecting future contractions. After nearly two months of rest after delivery, the elasticity of the vagina can fully recover to pre pregnancy levels.
Moreover, the vast majority of families currently have only one child, and the damage to the vagina is almost negligible, unless it is the multiple childbirth of multi child mothers who are affected by repeated vaginal dilation. In fact, as long as the body is healthy and sturdy, paying attention to physical exercise, especially strengthening the perineal muscles, then even if you have given birth to a few children, it will not affect the tightness of the vagina.
