How to prevent sexually transmitted diseases with condoms? The quality of condoms is unreliable
How do condoms prevent sexually transmitted diseases? Times are advancing, and condoms have become a necessity. When it comes to this product, most people no longer blush. But did you know that if you don't pay attention, you may still buy substandard condoms and regret them afterwards.
Well, Durex, the famous one, has recently exposed quality problems.
Unqualified blasting volume and pressure without aging
On January 20th, the State Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) issued a national medical device quality announcement. CFDA recently organized quality supervision and sampling of 81 batches (units) of 5 varieties, including natural rubber latex condoms. Among them, there are 3 types and 3 batches (sets) of medical device products from 3 medical device manufacturers that do not meet the standard requirements, including: 1 RF ablation equipment product from 1 enterprise, 1 surgical gown product from 1 enterprise, and 1 natural latex rubber condom product from 1 enterprise. ▲ A batch of natural latex rubber condoms produced by the State Food and Drug Administration Qingdao London Durex Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Durex) were found not in conformity with the standards by the Food and Drug Administration of Qinghai Province. The reason was that the explosion volume and explosion pressure were not aged. The Food and Drug Administration requires it to rectify within a specified period of time.
In fact, in September 2016, the CFDA announced the quality supervision and sampling of natural rubber latex condoms and other products. Multiple unqualified products were found during the sampling inspection, among which "the unaged explosion volume and explosion pressure do not meet the standard requirements" is one of the main reasons for the sampling items not meeting the standard requirements.
After consulting relevant papers, the reporter learned that the main reason for unqualified explosion volume and pressure without aging is related to the vulcanization process:
The vulcanization process is the key to the production process of condoms, and temperature is one of its key factors. In general, the longer the vulcanization time, the lower the vulcanization temperature, and the relatively stable product quality. However, some companies, in pursuit of greater economic benefits, result in incomplete vulcanization, which can lead to insufficient strength, low burst volume, and low burst pressure of condoms before aging.
In addition, studies have shown that the reason for the unqualified explosion volume and pressure of condoms without aging is also related to the purity control of the raw material production process of condoms.
