Due to differences in region, gender, and other factors, the timing of first sexual activity also varies. However, with the development of society and the advancement of concepts, the age of first sexual activity has advanced. According to statistics, 40% of young people in China have their first sexual activity before the age of 19. The first time is very important for many young people, especially for girls. What should I do when having sex for the first time?
In the past decade, the average age of first sexual intercourse among young people in China has advanced, and the average age of childbirth has been postponed by nearly two years. Relevant experts point out that China's current family planning service system does not cover unmarried populations, and the contraceptive needs of young people are far from being met.
The Chinese survey report on World Contraceptive Day 2013 showed that 37% of young people had their first sexual act before the age of 19, and 64% of young people had Premarital sex. Meanwhile, more than 70% of young people aged 15 to 19 who have sexual experience engage in unprotected sexual activity.
At the age of 14, both men and women remain essentially virgins
Another paper from the February 20, 2014 issue of Sociological Research, titled "Risk of First Sexual Behavior among Unmarried Youth in China," also provides in-depth insights into this issue. A survey shows that at the age of 14, almost 100% of men and women still maintain their virginal bodies. Before the age of 17, about 7% of males and about 4% of females reported their first sexual activity. Starting from the age of 20, there has been a significant increase in sexual behavior among men and women. At this age, approximately 23% of women and 30% of men have experienced sexual activity. The age of 21 to 24 seems to be an important stage in the history of unmarried young people's first sexual activity. Between the ages of 21 and 22, the gender difference in the proportion of first sexual activity between women and men is the highest (30% vs 39%), and this difference begins to decrease. At the age of 23, 54% of women and 59% of men engage in sexual activity. At the age of 24, this proportion increases to 60% and 64%, respectively. At the age of 18, approximately 10% of urban men and 15% of urban women have experienced sexual activity. At around the age of 16, there were differences between urban and rural areas. Between the ages of 16 and 23, a higher proportion of rural men begin their sexual activity compared to urban men. The above patterns are also roughly consistent among women. From the age of 15 to 23, rural women have a higher proportion of first sexual intercourse than urban women.
