To determine the symptoms and manifestations of balanitis, we must first determine the specific disease type of the patient. Most diseases are not simple balanitis, and the symptoms of different types are different.
1. Acute superficial balanitis
Some physical factors, such as excessive prepuce or poor turnover, trauma, friction, condom, soap and detergent stimulation, etc. The clinical manifestations are local edematous erythema, erosion, exudation and hemorrhage, and severe cases can be treated with blister drugs. After secondary bacterial infection, ulcerative surface is formed with purulent secretion.
2. Circular ulcerative balanitis
Clinically, it can exist independently, or it can be a mucosal symptom of Reiter's disease. The clinical manifestation is erythema on the glans and prepuce, which gradually expands into a ring or multiple rings, and then forms a superficial ulcer surface. The symptoms of patients with poor prepuce turnover are aggravated by the local accumulation of secretions and frequent secondary infection. At this time, they lose their circular characteristics and are not easy to distinguish from superficial prepuce balanitis.
3. Candidal balanitis
It can be primary or secondary. The latter often occurs in diabetes, senile consumptive diseases, antibiotics and hormone treatment, or the spouse has candidal vaginitis. The clinical manifestation of the latter is erythema, with smooth surface, slight desquamation at the edge, satellite like distribution of papules and pustules, gradually expanding to the surrounding, and the boundary is clear.
4. Plasmacytic balanitis
Middle-aged patients often see single or multiple localized dark erythema that does not recede for a long time, and the process is slow. The surface is smooth, desquamated or wet, with obvious infiltration, clear edge, and no ulcer. Sometimes it is similar to glans hyperplasia erythema. Pathological changes are of diagnostic value, characterized by hyperplasia of epidermal cells, prominent and flat epidermis, massive plasma cell infiltration in the dermis, telangiectasia and hemosiderosis.
There are many hazards of balanitis. The common ones are
1. Infertility: Inflammatory secretions hidden in the foreskin enter the vagina together with semen during sexual intercourse, reducing semen quality, destroying sperm and egg cells, and causing infertility.
2. Harm to reproductive system health: prepuce balanitis is easy to cause prostatitis, orchitis, orchitis, vasectomy and other organ inflammation. If they cannot be treated timely and effectively, they will cause great harm to reproductive health.
