"Recently, I had a pre pregnancy consultation with my wife, and the doctor said that both the quantity and quality of sperm are important, but what is the appropriate amount of sperm for men?" On this issue, we interviewed experts for male friends to explain this issue in detail for you!
How much sperm is suitable for pregnancy preparation
Sperm count is the calculation of the number of sperm in the semen discharged at one time under a microscope. Multiplying the sperm count value by the semen volume can determine the amount of ejaculation at one time.
In normal men of reproductive age, about 300 million ejaculates at a time, of which more than 70% are normal sperm, i.e., sperm with normal morphology, vitality, and chromosomes. Such sperm can only reach the fallopian tube through their own efforts and external assistance, and ultimately a sperm completes the task of combining with the egg. "There are many obstacles to the convergence of sperm and eggs. If the number of sperm is not large enough, it is difficult to achieve the goal of conception.". Due to the hundreds of millions of sperm that ultimately break through the barrier, only over 200 can enter the fallopian tube.
Of course, in addition to the appropriate amount of sperm, it is also necessary to ensure the quality of sperm. If the number of dead sperm and abnormal sperm contained in semen is too large, it can also affect pregnancy.
Oligozoospermia
Sperm oligozoospermia, also known as oligospermia, is generally divided into primary oligospermia, idiopathic oligospermia, and secondary oligospermia. Among them, idiopathic oligospermia accounts for about 60% of the total infertility population. The causes of oligospermia are relatively complex: for example, long-term and massive injection of androgens, resulting in a decrease in gonadotropin secretion in the hypothalamus due to negative feedback, leading to decreased sperm production or lack of drug effects, which can directly or indirectly affect sperm motility, such as sulfa drugs, furatadine, spironolactone, cyclophosphamide, methotrigine, and colchicine radiation exposure, It can delay or stop the division of sperm cells. At the same time, overheating inhibits the survival and maturation of sperm, and may also lead to a decrease in the number of sperm in the semen or a decrease in activity.
Everyone knows that too little sperm is one of the main causes of infertility, but few people know that too much sperm is actually not a good thing. Similarly, the phenomenon of excessive sperm in normal men is actually one of the sperm quality issues. Prospective dads with such issues should be careful.
Among them, the most noteworthy is azoospermia. Azospermia refers to a condition in which semen after centrifugation and sedimentation is observed under a microscope and there are no symptoms of sperm. The causes of azoospermia are mostly due to congenital deficiencies, the decline of life and fire, or acquired disorders, as well as a lack of sources of blood essence that make it difficult for sperm worms to survive.
Excessive sperm
"Excessive sperm count does not mean that men are more fertile.". For pregnant men, if the sperm count exceeds the normal maximum, or even exceeds 1-2 times (sperm count>300 million/ml), it can also be attributed to sperm quality issues.
Some pregnant men mistakenly believe that excessive sperm can be beneficial to fertility. In fact, the harm of excessive sperm can not be ignored: excessive sperm count and overcrowding not only affect sperm motility, making it difficult to travel through the cervix and uterus to the fallopian tube, but also those who have excessive sperm count may have some hormonal dysfunction, resulting in a large number of sperm but not necessarily high quality. This is also the main reason for infertility caused by excessive sperm.
For patients with oligozoospermia, it is necessary to have a proper diet in daily life, avoid spicy and thick flavors, and stop drinking alcohol; Pay attention to a certain degree in sexual life, especially for those with kidney deficiency who should refrain from sexual intercourse; At the same time, we should cooperate with the doctor's advice and adhere to the treatment course.
