How long can women have sexual intercourse after a cesarean section? Two aspects to pay attention to during postpartum sexual intercourse for women
Many young couples can't wait to think about their marital life after experiencing long-term abstinence pain, but how long can a mother who has undergone a cesarean section live after childbirth? The following is based on the experience of many gynecologists and a large number of cesarean section mothers to tell you how long you can live after a cesarean section and the preventive measures for living as a couple.
How long can we have sexual intercourse after a cesarean section?
1、 It is not advisable to have sexual intercourse late or early after a cesarean section.
How long can you stay in the same room after a cesarean section? For normal delivery, the general delivery time, i.e. the postpartum period, is 42 days, which is the repair period of the endometrium. After the postpartum period, if the mother's body is normal, theoretically it can be in the same room. Specifically, medical research suggests that it is best to wait for 3 months after a cesarean section, as there are surgical wounds that require more time to recover and must be done after the wound has healed.
Some people believe that as long as postpartum lochia is clean, couples can share a room. In fact, this viewpoint is incorrect. Lochia usually lasts for 2 to 4 weeks. Afterwards, although lochia has been cleaned, the wound in the uterus has not yet fully healed, and the physical exertion during childbirth has not yet recovered, resulting in poor disease resistance. If you share a room too early, it can easily cause infections, vaginitis, endometritis, salpingitis, or menstrual irregularities
Numerous facts have proven that within two months after giving birth, women generally exhibit low libido, which is normal. If you cohabit, it often fails to achieve harmony in the same room, and may also cause women to experience sexual apathy, affecting the relationship between husband and wife in the future. Generally speaking, it takes 6 to 8 weeks for postpartum reproductive organs and other systems to recover, and women's interest in sexual intercourse only increases significantly in the third month after childbirth. So, even if the body recovers smoothly after a cesarean section, it is best to have sex again after three months.
2、 Normal procedure for sexual intercourse after cesarean section
In the sixth week after cesarean section, women need to go to a regular hospital for a comprehensive maternal and infant physical examination. At this point, if the doctor believes that the postpartum uterus has recovered well and there are no other discomfort, they can gradually return to the same room two months after delivery. The reason why doctors cannot immediately restore the same room after examination is that the female reproductive organs take 8 to 9 weeks to gradually recover, and the wound takes longer to recover. Therefore, the same room cannot be immediately restored.
