How can bleeding occur after sexual intercourse? What are the reasons for bleeding after sexual intercourse
When bleeding after sexual intercourse, the first thing to consider is damage. The amount of bleeding is related to the location and severity of the injury, and the possible causes of bleeding are as follows:
1. Rupture of hymen during first sexual intercourse
This type of bleeding usually occurs during sexual intercourse. At that time, there was pain and bleeding, with a small amount of bleeding. If the injury is not severe, the bleeding will stop within 1-2 hours and heal without treatment. It is worth noting that after the rupture of hymen, it will take 3-5 days to heal the wound at the rupture, and it will not be allowed to have sexual intercourse again until it is healed.
2. Vaginal laceration
During or after sexual intercourse, bleeding is found and the amount of bleeding is high. Prolonged bleeding and vaginal lacerations often occur during involuntary or very rough sexual intercourse.
3. Vaginal malformation
Vaginal mediastinum, double vagina, and vaginal dysplasia lead to vaginal stenosis. After vaginal plastic surgery, repair of hymen, excision of tumor in vagina and hysterectomy, sexual intercourse is easy to be damaged when vaginal wound is poorly healed.
4. Improper sexual intercourse posture and position can also lead to vaginal injury and bleeding
5. Sexual intercourse during puerperium or lactation
It can easily lead to vaginal injury and bleeding, as the vaginal mucosa is relatively fragile and easily injured during sexual intercourse due to impact.
6. Genital tract inflammation
Cervicitis, vaginitis, and endometritis are also the most common causes of vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse. Bleeding after multiple sexual intercourse, with low blood volume, especially the discharge of secretions after sexual intercourse, should be considered for severe cervical erosion and most cervical polyps
7. Cervical cancer
If a menopausal woman experiences minor bleeding or bloody vaginal discharge after sexual intercourse, she should be immediately examined for early cervical cancer. 80% of cervical cancer patients have no discomfort symptoms in the early stage, and bleeding after sexual intercourse may be the only symptom of early cervical cancer. Therefore, when young women notice vaginal bleeding or discharge of bloody secretions after frequent sexual intercourse, they should be vigilant and seek medical attention for cervical cancer examination as soon as possible.
