Can you have sex during pregnancy? What should pregnant women do for sexual intercourse
Many pregnant friends may have the question of whether sexual activity is allowed during pregnancy. Experts suggest that as long as both partners are healthy, moderate sexual activity can still be carried out during pregnancy. However, if the following eight situations occur, sexual activity should be prohibited.
1. Previous experience of miscarriage: If the expectant mother has miscarried in the past, the doctor will recommend that the pregnant woman refrain from sexual activity in the first few months of pregnancy until the danger of miscarriage has passed.
2. When there is a threat of miscarriage: If the expectant mother experiences vaginal bleeding or lower abdominal pain during or after sexual intercourse, she should seek medical examination. If there are signs of miscarriage, sexual activity should be temporarily stopped.
3. Expectant fathers suffer from sexually transmitted diseases: The bacteria of sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted to pregnant women and fetuses during sexual intercourse, so sexual activity should be prohibited until completely cured.
4. Vaginal inflammation in expectant mothers: During sexual intercourse, bacteria can be transmitted to the fetus, so sexual activity should be prohibited until completely cured.
5. When there is a problem with the placenta: If the expectant mother has a placenta previa or if the placenta is not tightly connected to the uterus, sexual intercourse may lead to miscarriage. Sexual activity should be temporarily stopped until the situation stabilizes before resuming sexual activity.
6. Uterine contractions are too frequent: If expectant mothers find that their uterus contracts too frequently, in order to avoid premature birth, it is still necessary to avoid sexual activity and seek medical examination.
7. Uterine atresia: There is a risk of miscarriage at any time, and sexual activity should be avoided.
8. Early dehydration: If the due date is not yet reached, the pregnant woman must have an abortion. However, due to the rupture of the amniotic membrane that protects the fetus, bacteria may enter the uterus and infect the fetus. Therefore, sexual activity should be avoided at this time.
When the above situations arise and sexual activity must be prohibited, expectant mothers can satisfy their husband's desires by caressing with their hands. However, it is important to note that if the doctor has warned the expectant mother that sexual activity is prohibited due to uterine contractions, then any behavior that may cause sexual excitement for the expectant mother must be prohibited at this time, including touching the breast and external genitalia, as these stimuli can also cause uterine contractions and endanger the safety of the fetus.
Precautions for sexual activity in early pregnancy
A. During this period, the placenta has not yet fully formed and is in an unstable state. The secretion of progesterone, which has the function of maintaining the fetus in the uterus, is not sufficient, making it the most prone period for miscarriage. So the frequency of sexual intercourse should be reduced compared to usual, and stimulation should also be reduced.
B. If the position for sexual intercourse is still in the normal position, the husband on top should extend his arms and not oppress the pregnant woman's body, especially the abdomen. It is best not to use an extended position where the legs of a pregnant woman are straight, otherwise it will cause her husband's genitalia to penetrate deeply.
C. During orgasm, it is important to slowly twitch and not frequently change positions during intercourse.
D. Pregnant women with habitual miscarriage or those who have recovered from previous miscarriage are not absolutely prohibited from sexual intercourse. But follow the doctor's guidance.
