Can low libido lead to infertility? Beware of medication leading to male sexual dysfunction
Experts believe that low libido is manifested as decreased or uninteresting sexual activity, low demand for automatic sexual behavior by patients, and low libido caused by systemic factors such as illness, fatigue, and medication. Low libido is caused by certain factors, resulting in a significant decrease in libido. Therefore, can low libido cause infertility?
(1) Systemic: Almost all severe systemic emergencies and chronic diseases can lead to low libido in men, as well as systemic diseases such as liver cirrhosis, chronic renal failure, and chronic active hepatitis. These diseases can disrupt normal hormone metabolism, leading to a state of physical and psychological exhaustion in patients, accompanied by decreased or absent libido. Hereditary and sexual diseases can also cause low libido.
(2) Male reproductive system diseases: Phimosis, penile sclerosis, incomplete development of the penis, etc., often caused by mechanical, psychological, or physiological factors, making sexual intercourse difficult or impossible. Over time, it can lead to low or even no sexual desire.
(3) Endocrine diseases: Various endocrine system diseases are common in humans and are also a common cause of reproductive organ dysfunction. Hypofunction of the reproductive glands, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, adrenal cortical diseases, and pituitary diseases can all lead to decreased libido. There are many diseases that cause hypogonadism, such as epididymis, pituitary dysfunction, and suprasellar tumors. They can directly act on the testicular level, as well as on the hypothalamus and pituitary levels, and indirectly affect the function of the testes, reducing the synthesis of testosterone and leading to decreased libido.
(4) Many drugs can cause male sexual dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and abnormal ejaculation. Commonly seen are antihypertensive drugs: ① Almost all antihypertensive drugs have adverse reactions that cause sexual dysfunction to varying degrees. ② Antipsychotics: Similar to antihypertensive drugs Substance abuse: Long term use of diacetylmorphine, methadone, and medium dose marijuana can cause sexual dysfunction Other drugs such as cimetidine, nitrogen mustard, vincristine, digoxin, and ethinylestradiol can induce the occurrence of low libido.
(5) Psychological factors: Depression, fear, and neuroticism can all lead to decreased libido, and non sexual behavior habits often lead to decreased libido, which is the result of distorted sexual drive. The pressure of daily life is negatively correlated with sexual drive. The greater the pressure of life, the lower the sexual drive. The long-term tense pace of life and continuous setbacks and blows can induce decreased libido. Influenced by traditional concepts and social disapproval of premarital sexual behavior, some people may not receive psychological satisfaction from sexual life, but rather depression and guilt, leading to low libido.
