Can chronic cervicitis self heal? Actively treating and overcoming four misconceptions
Chronic cervicitis is a type of cervicitis, and it is also a common gynecological disease. After getting sick, we must treat it in a timely manner and do not go into the wrong direction of treatment.
Can chronic cervicitis self heal
Chronic cervicitis cannot be self cured. Chronic cervicitis must be treated reasonably in order to recover, and some patients cannot be completely treated, and the likelihood of recurrence is high after a while.
Hazards of chronic cervicitis
1. Induced cervical cancer: According to statistics, the incidence rate of cervical cancer with cervicitis is 10 times higher than that of women without cervicitis. Chronic or untreated cervicitis is considered one of the causes of cervical cancer.
2. Abortion: Cervicitis is also a cause of miscarriage. Cervicitis changes tissue, decreases elasticity, and the production process is not smooth, resulting in a tragic miscarriage.
3. Infertility: About 20% to 25% of patients with excessive vaginal discharge are caused by cervicitis, and the sticky and purulent vaginal discharge caused by inflammation is not conducive to sperm infertility through the cervical canal.
4. Impact on the quality of sexual life: Severe cervicitis can affect the quality of sexual life, making women feel pain and discomfort during sexual activity, thereby rejecting sexual activity.
Treatment of chronic cervicitis
1. Medication treatment: Small erosion surface and shallow inflammatory infiltration can be treated with medication, such as traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions and prescriptions. Interferon is also a good drug for treating cervicitis.
2. Physical therapy: For cervical erosion with a large area and deep inflammatory infiltration, physical therapy can be used. Ironing, cryotherapy, laser therapy, KS instrument therapy, and other treatment methods are common in clinical practice. During the treatment process using the above methods, it is important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the external genitalia, prohibit sexual activity, take vaginal baths, and regularly review the healing of the erosive surface.
3. Surgical treatment: Medication and physical therapy are ineffective, cervical erosion is deep or extensive, and cervical hypertrophy can be treated through cervical cone resection.
Misunderstanding of chronic cervicitis
1. Cervical erosion=chronic cervicitis: Some cervical erosion still covers a single layer of intact columnar epithelium in the cervical canal, with thin columnar epithelium and a red appearance, resembling erosion. However, it is not true erosion. Only when there is cervical epithelial detachment or ulcer, is it truly chronic cervicitis and cervical erosion. It is worth noting that in some physiological conditions, such as adolescence, pregnancy, or women taking oral contraceptives, physiological cervical erosion can occur due to increased estrogen levels and columnar epithelial hyperplasia of the cervix. At this point, don't worry too much. When estrogen levels decrease, the columnar epithelium can return to the cervical canal, and cervical erosion is not cured with medication. From this, it can be seen that cervical erosion does not represent the depth of cervicitis or the likelihood of cervical cancer development. It is only a doctor's description of the appearance of the cervix, and the reasons for its depth may include various physiological and pathological factors. Therefore, when cervical erosion is discovered, it is best to fully communicate and consult with a doctor, rather than self diagnose.
