Are female lower body ulcers caused by syphilis? Four sexually transmitted diseases can lead to external genital ulcers
Vulvar ulcers often occur in daily life, and the causes are multifaceted. They are not only related to daily habits, but also related to diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases. We need to promptly check if any problems occur.
Classification of vulvar ulcers
1. Acute vulvar ulcer: Ulcers often occur after scratching or scarring, usually superficial, but with severe pain, accompanied by fever, general discomfort, enlarged inguinal lymph nodes, but often self healing. Acute vulvar ulcers caused by Behcet's disease are often severe, with severe redness and swelling at the ulcer site, irregular edges, excavation, and severe pain. The ulcer surface is often accompanied by yellow pus, forming a pseudomembrane. After removing the pseudomembrane, the ulcer is basically uneven. Ulcers can rapidly develop and cause damage to the labia minora, known as gangrenous type. Another common type is called non chancre type, which has mild symptoms, a slower course, a large and shallow number of ulcers, and often heals within a few weeks. However, old ulcers heal and new ulcers appear nearby.
2. Chronic vulvar ulcers: Chronic vulvar ulcers are mostly caused by tuberculosis and cancer, and often occur in the labia or vestibular mucosa, penis, etc. The ulcers are small, shallow, irregularly shaped, with a concave and convex base, and painless, but severe pain caused by urinary stimulation and friction. Pathological sections are placed under a microscope to distinguish which type of ulcer.
Clinical manifestations of vulvar ulcers
1. The skin and mucous membranes are ulcerated and defective, with congestion, edema, and exudation at the bottom of the ulcer, which may appear gray white.
2. Local itching, pain, and burning sensation may occur.
3. Inguinal lymph node enlargement.
4. There are systemic symptoms such as fever and weakness, as well as symptoms of diseases in other parts of the body.
5. Vulvar ulcers are often associated with sexually transmitted diseases. Watch out for diabetes after repeated attacks.
Possible diseases of vulvar ulcers
1. Syphilis: It mainly occurs in stage I syphilis, known as hard scabies. Skin damage occurs in the genital area, as well as in the lips, pharynx, tongue, breasts, etc.
2. Genital herpes: Multiple papules, small blisters, or pustules first appear in the genital area, and then evolve into erosion and ulcers. The skin damage site has itching and pain, and the ulcers generally disappear in about 3-4 weeks. After recovery, new damage occurs and the original site relapses.
3. Sexually transmitted lymphogranuloma: A small blister or papule with a primary lesion of 5-6mm, with mild symptoms and the formation of ulcers. It is more common in the external genitalia and self-heals after a few days without leaving scars.
